Client: The USAF at Davis-Mothan AFB - F-16 Maintenance Stands

Challenge:

These stands were equipped with slidable deck sections that allowed conformance to different aircraft fuselage and wing configurations while providing minimum gap distance.  Additionally, the stands met the requirements of being independent and mobile, adjusting in a height range of 5’ to 7’, and supported 1000 lbs of working load.

JSI competed for and captured an additional contract for the design, manufacture and delivery of F-16 Maintenance Stands.

JSI Solution:

JSI received a competitive award to provide a turnkey solution, including the design, manufacture, installation, training, and support of the aircraft maintenance stands. The stands measured 14’L x 7’H x 4’W and were constructed from lightweight aluminum. These stands followed the contours of the F-16 aircraft and were capable of traveling vertically up to 7’. The stands were OSHA and AFOSH compliant and include fall-protection features, such as anti-skid flooring, stair treads, guardrails, and expanded metal with kickplates. In addition, electrical inputs, circuit protectors, and flush mounted emergency shutoff outlets were mounted in the deck sections. Air system connection points were also integrated into the stands for use of pneumatic tools.
